As stated in the opening titles and at the end Freakstars 3000 is supposed to be a commentary on the problems of the non-disabled people. The more I was shocked about how the disabled were depicted in this film the more I started to realize that in every non-disabled TV counterpart of this show (German TV shows like “Popstars” or “Friedmann” or the home shopping channels) its mentally “non-handicapped” participants are treated in a completely identical way: The total prostitution of the mind in front a huge TV audience at the expense of one’s most important gifts one should hang on to: dignity. On the other hand one could completely understand people who are furious about “exploiting” these handicapped persons. But that’s what Schlingensief’s works are all about: shock people and don’t care about those who cannot or will not try to get the message (if there is one).

What happens when a generation’s ultimate anti-authoritarians — punk rockers — become society’s ultimate authorities — dad’s? With a large chorus of Punk Rock’s leading men — Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath — The Other F Word follows Jim Lindberg, 20-year veteran of skate punk band, Pennywise, on his hysterical and moving journey from belting his band’s anthem, ‘Fuck Authority’, to embracing his ultimately pivotal authoritarian role in mid-life, fatherhood.
Lorenzo Vigas’ mesmerizing feature debut examines the struggles of a man petrified by the notion of human contact and intimacy. Armando, aged 50, (played by Pablo Larraín favourite Alfredo Castro in one of his most striking performances yet), cruises young men in the streets of Caracas and pays them to come back to his house. He also regularly spies on an older man with whom he seems to have ties from the past. One day he meets 17-year-old Elder, leader of a small band of thugs. Their turbulent relationship will come to mimic the violent, passionate, oppressive unpredictability of the city around them. Winner of the Golden Lion for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival in 2015.
Sex comedy takes a look at contemporary dating mores and hypothesizes that the new dating location may be the dog walk in the park. A mild-mannered man loses his present girl friend to another man. His attraction to a kid’s TV show hostess goes nowhere because of her obsession with her dog, Peanut. He then gets hooked up with an overly exuberant blonde who overwhelms him. He even lost his collie, Mogley, when his girl friend moved out. In a funny sub-plot, the collie is going to a doggie psychiatrist who determines the dog is being traumatized by his mistress’ sexual antics.
